To protect everyone's safety, spring auditions will be held by pre-recorded Video Submission. (No in-person auditions.)

NOTE: We are still accepting Associate Members for the remainder of our Online 2020-2021 Season (through May 22.)

Early Bird Auditions are due by Monday May 31, at 12:00 midnight.
Early Bird Auditionees get priority consideration for open spots, as well as a tuition discount if accepted.

Final Spring Audition Deadline: Sunday June 6, at 12:00 midnight

Placement into our orchestras is determined by the audition:

Philadelphia Sinfonia (PS) - advanced orchestra, conducted by Gary D. White
Philadelphia Sinfonia Players (PSP) - advanced-intermediate orchestra, conducted by Danielle Garrett
Philadelphia Sinfonia Chamber Orchestra (PSCO) - advanced string orchestra, conducted by Gary D. White

Auditionees should register first, then pre-record your audition video, upload it to YouTube, and submit it to us following the guidelines below.

Submit Video Auditions as follows:
1) Please complete the Audition Registration Form below.
-You will receive an email confirmation within a day, including a link to submit your Video Audition when ready.

2) To create the best possible pre-recorded Video Audition, make sure to read and follow our guidelines and requirements.
A) Prepare your assigned Scales, Sight Reading Excerpts, and two contrasting solos of your choice.
B) Review your video to make sure everything is there!
C) Upload your video to YouTube.
D) Submit the Video YouTube link using the Submission Form that we emailed you.

4) You should hear back from us with the results of your audition within 2 weeks.

There is no fee to audition. Tuition levels for 2021-22 season are tentatively set as follows:
PS - $1,550
PSP - $1,350
PSCO - $400
Scholarships are available to accepted students by application, on the basis of need.

Applicants should be prepared to:

--Play two contrasting  movements of a solo work, concerto, or sonata without an accompanist
--"Contrasting" refers to one faster, more technical movement and one slower, more melodic movement
-- Contrasting solos can come from two movements of the same work, OR from two separate works.
-- Play up to 2 minutes of each solo, starting at the soloist's first entrance and stopping at the end of a phrase near the 2-minute mark (we would like to hear the exposition of your piece.)
 --Percussionists should prepare an appropriate solo work / etude on snare drum and timpani (and mallet keyboard if possible)
--Perform major scales up to 4 flats and 4 sharps - see Audition Requirements for specific scales for each instrument
--Sight-read music provided - click here to download the Sight Reading Excerpts
--Percussion and Harps: In addition to your solo, please prepare an orchestral excerpt of your choice.
