Robert Hodges
Managing Director
Robert Hodges, our Managing Director since the Spring of 2025, has an abiding passion for helping young people as well as a deep love for music. He is thrilled to bring these interests together at Philadelphia Sinfonia.
Robert obtained his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts, both in History, from Rutgers University, initially with the intent of becoming a teacher. While pursuing a Doctorate in American History from the University of Maine, he began working as an academic advisor for the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, where he found his path. He learned that he connected well with young people while helping them navigate the challenges they faced in their schooling. This led directly to him coming to Philadelphia to become the Director of Academics at The Rock School for Dance Education in August of 2014.
During his decade of work at Rock, he helped guide hundreds of aspiring ballet dancers through their online middle and high school education, providing them with the support they needed and helping ensure that they graduated with a high school diploma. During the COVID lockdowns, in the middle of which the school’s long-time President and Director stepped down and retired, Robert took on additional responsibilities with the role of Interim Director of Operations. In that position, Robert helped oversee and guide the institution until a new President and Director was appointed.
Robert now looks to bring to Philadelphia Sinfonia Association that same caring and compassion that propelled him to success at The Rock School, to help the organization continue in its mission of teaching young people to become not just good musicians, but good people.
